SPAIN: President of the Generalitat of Catalunya Carles Puigdemont attended a ceremony on September 12 to mark the opening of a 0·7 km extension of route S2 of the 1 435 mm gauge Vallès network of regional operator FGC. Passenger services began the following day.
The northern extension from Can Feu | Gràcia (formerly Sabadell Estació) to Sabadell Plaça Major marks the first phase of an extension to Ca n’Oriac – Nord. The remaining 3·7 km section with three stations is due to open early next year. Being built at a cost of €430m, the extension will include a new depot at the northern end.
