AUSTRALIA: Continental subsidiary ContiTech announced its acquisition of Sydney-based rubber and steel moulded composite air spring maker Vulcanite on July 27.
Claus-Peter Spille, head of ContiTech’s Air Spring Systems business unit, said the acquisition ‘fits perfectly’ with the company’s strategy of strengthening its business outside the automotive sector. It would enhance its global reach, mainly in Australia and the USA, and ‘open up additional growth potential in the railway business’.
Vulcanite employs around 60 people, and has a production facility at Seremban in Malaysia. It supplies ‘three of the world’s four leading railway rolling stock builders‘, as well as vibratory piling hammer manufacturers.
