INTERNATIONAL: Infineon Technologies has announced a five-year strategic agreement to supply Bombardier Transportation with IGBT power semiconductors for rail vehicle traction systems.
Infineon will reserve manufacturing capacity for Bombardier, which will contribute towards the required investment. The companies will also collaborate to optimise energy efficiency and reliability.
'Our new generations of IGBT modules are designed to meet the challenging application requirements posed by deployment in advanced trains and metro rail systems', said Arunjai Mittal, President of Infineon's Industrial & Multimarket Division. 'In partnering with the experts of Bombardier Transportation, we aim to raise the energy efficiency and reliability of the drive electronics yet further.'
