Voith has commissioned a multi-functional transmission test bench at its Heidenheim site in Germany. This can test transmission performance under conditions including temperatures from -50°C to +85°C, mechanical stress, wind flow velocities of up to 180 km/h and ice build-up. It also enables testing of noise levels. ‘Our unique test bench provides the best conditions for the optimum further development of our gear units and turbo transmissions’, said Research Engineer Stefan Hülsmann. ‘Function tests, driving simulations and endurance runs can be carried out for all dimensions, from Siberian cold to desert-like heat’.
