Alstom has released its first India Impact Report in partnership with Ernst & Young, capturing the socio-economic contributions and Environmental, Social and Governance goals in the year to the end of March 2021. Alstom India bought €331m of goods and services, with 75% of orders placed with Indian suppliers. It has invested €142m locally in the last five years, and conducted 21 technology transfers. In March, Alstom had 7 634 direct employees in India, and supported 71 340 indirect and 27 770 induced jobs. It is aiming to have 28% of people in management, engineering and professional roles being women by 2025.
Holland is to expand its suite of track measurement services with LiDAR technology from Cordel. This has a range of applications including track imagery, clearance validation, line of sight measurement and condition assessment. ‘Combining Cordel’s automated LiDAR with Holland’s comprehensive track inspection services on the same vehicles delivers more efficiency and value to railroads’, said Nick Wayne, Cordel Vice-President for the Americas.
Rail.One now offers composite sleepers produced by German company Pioonier from recycled plastics. Rail.One said these are suitable substitutes for wooden sleepers on bridges and turnouts. ‘It is important to us to keep up with the current market developments and especially with the topic of sustainability. PSP Investments and Amber Infrastructure have increased their shareholding in the UK rolling stock leasing company Angel Trains Group, purchasing a combined 51% stake from AMP Capital with PSP Investments becoming the majority shareholder. Both PSP Investments and Amber Infrastructure have been investors in Angel Trains since 2008.

Freight tracking technology company Nexxiot is to acquire a majority stake in Swedish technology firm MOST, which supplies sensors to monitor the humidity, temperature, light and security of containerised cargo. Danish company GlobeTracker will divest its shares in MOST, and the Resona family will be a minority shareholder.

Mayank Tripathi has been appointed Chief Sales Officer at Frauscher Sensor Technology. He brings 16 years’ experience of railway signalling into his new role, and will focus on further strengthening the company’s position within the rail market and its relationships with customers, as well as developing opportunities in new markets. He will also continue to be Managing Director of Frauscher France.
