Škoda Group has established Škoda Group Austria GmbH in Wien, which on February 1 acquired part of the assets of Molinari Rail Austria which had entered insolvency in November. Škoda Group said it was ‘significantly strengthening its position in the field of technical engineering and design’ through the acquisition, gaining a team of 40 highly experienced designers.
Hitachi Rail’s Group CEO Andrew Barr will take up the new role of Vice-President & Executive Officer in charge of Regional Strategies EMEA and President of Hitachi Europe Ltd on April 1. He will be succeeded by Giuseppe Marino, currently CEO & General Manager of Ansaldo Energia Group, who will be based at Hitachi Rail’s group headquarters in London.

On February 1 Thierry Boussillon joined Rail Baltica project promoter RB Rail as Chief Programme Management Officer and member of the management board. He has 30 years’ experience of large railway projects, most recently working on Bangkok’s Red Line and before that the Doha metro.
