USA: Vehicles being built for Caltrain and TEXRail were used to re-enact the completion of the transcontinental railway at Promontory Summit 150 years before as part of celebrations marking the official inauguration of Stadler US Inc’s factory in Salt Lake City on May 9.
‘It seems fitting that as we celebrate the 150th anniversary of the completion of the transcontinental railroad that we also celebrate the grand opening of Stadler Rail’s new US headquarters and manufacturing facility in Utah’, said state Governor Gary Herbert.
Other guests included Mayor Jackie Biskupski, US Ambassador to Switzerland Ed McMullen, Daniel Freihofer of the Swiss embassy in the USA and APTA President & CEO Paul Skoutelas, who said ‘the new US production facility strengthens our industry and advances modern mobility in America’.
The new factory near the airport was developed over 18 months, with Stadler’s US operations transferring across from a leased site at Warm Springs during April.
