CHINA: British rubber-to-metal bonded component manufacturer Ferrabyrne Ltd has established a Chinese subsidiary to provide ‘made in China for China’ products as part of its strategy of offering local content in local markets.
Qingdao Ferrabyrne Rail Technologies Ltd is based in the Shandong coastal city to be close to CRRC Sifang, which is one of Ferrabyrne’s principal local customers.
Ferrabyrne Managing Director Ken Horton has been appointed as supervisor of the Chinese business. The firm’s Director of China Projects Changhao Xiu becomes Managing Director and legal representative.
Previous orders with Chinese customers were negotiated directly by Ferrabyrne, but transactions can now be made with the parent company or local subsidiary as required for each project.
- The China Railway Test & Certification Centre has certified that Ferrabyrne’s anti-roll bar system, including bars, links, bushes, mounts and speciality rubber compounds, meets the requirements for use by CRRC on high speed trainsets. Ferrabyrne said this was a major milestone for the company, and followed extensive collaboration between teams based at its UK and China offices.
