GERMANY: Construction of Vossloh Locomotives’ new plant on a business park in the Suchsdorf area of Kiel was officially launched with a groundbreaking ceremony on July 17.
Vossloh and property developer Stargime are investing €41m in the plant, which is scheduled to open in mid-2016. It will have a production area of 18 000 m2 and a direct connection to the rail network.
'By moving into an ultra-modern production facility and entering into a long-term lease, we are establishing a secure development perspective for the years ahead’, said Thomas Schwichtenberg, Managing Director of Vossloh Locomotives. ‘This enables us to safeguard jobs over the long term and continue to be a reliable and efficient partner for our customers.'
'Vossloh Locomotives is a future-oriented and innovative company and is a perfect match for our business campus', said Jens Gonder from Stargime. 'The construction project is the first step in the expansion and modernisation of the site and is fully in-line with our concept of developing a modern and sustainable commercial location.'
