GERMANY: The transport authorities of Sachsen-Anhalt and Brandenburg have jointly awarded Hanseatische Eisenbahn a contract to operate Elbe-Altmark local passenger services for four years from December 2018.
The Enon subsidiary currently operates services in Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, but this is its first contract in Sachsen-Anhalt.
The contract awarded following a European tender covers a total of 370 000 train-km/year on the Stendal - Rathenow service RB34, which is currently operated by Ostdeutschen Eisenbahn, and on the Stendal - Tangermünde service RB33, which is operated by DB Regio.
Hanseatische Eisenbahn will operate the routes using Alstom Lint 27 single-car DMUs which are currently used by Transdev on Nordharz services.
