ITALY: Construction work has restarted on metro Line 7 in Napoli, having been suspended in 2012 due to financial constraints.
The occasion was marked by a ceremony at the unfinished Monte Sant’Angelo station on September 20, attended by President of the Campania region Vincenzo De Luca and University of Napoli Rector Gaetano Manfredi.
Around 250 workers will initially be employed on the construction of the circular route, linking the city centre with Federico II University. Now scheduled to open in 2019, it will partly use the infrastructure of the local Circumflegrea and Cumana railways.
