RUSSIA: Steelmaker Evraz has signed a five-year agreement to supply Russian Railways with a total of 3·2 million tonnes of rail worth 111·7bn roubles.
The deal which came into force on February 19 covers all types of rail, including specialised products for high-speed and low-temperature applications, rails offering high wear resistance and components for switches and crossings. There is provision for a gradual increase in the supply of 100 m long rails to 360 000 tonnes by 2020.
'The new five-year contract with our key partner is a logical step to continue our long-term relations’, said Ilya Shirokobrod, Evraz Vice-President for Sales & Logistics. ‘The contract specifies the volume of deliveries and the mix of rail categories for each year, which allows both parties to plan their work more precisely. In addition, there is an option to redistribute the volume of rail categories, which will help our partner to flexibly manage the portfolio of orders depending on the needs.’
