AFRICA: A through working agreement has been signed enabling National Railways of Zimbabwe locomotives to operate to Francistown in Botswana, and Botswana Railways locos to run through to Bulawayo in Zimbabwe.
NRZ said eliminating the need to change locomotives at the border would cut delays and improve efficiency in the delivery of freight including salt, fuel, grain, sugar and coal.
The agreement was signed by NRZ General Manager Respina Zinyanduko and BR Operations Director Palalani Mari at Plumtree station on December 16, with the first BR train then running through to Bulawayo.
