EUROPE: CargoBeamer is to launch an intermodal service between Kaldenkirchen in Germany and Perpignan near France’s border with Spain on January 10, carrying semitrailers, containers, P400 trailers, refrigerated and tank trailers.
This is CargoBeamer’s sixth route, and the fifth to be added to its network in the past six months. There will initially be three trains a week in each direction, increasing to five from mid-February. DB Cargo France will provide haulage
‘With the expansion of the service in Perpignan, we not only serve the southern French market, but also position ourselves in the direction of northern Spain’, said Managing Director Matthias Schadler. ‘The addition of another route is also an important step forward for the Kaldenkirchen site, where we plan to start constructing our own transhipment terminal soon.’
