LUXEMBOURG: National railway CFL has acquired a 64·5% stake in Manuport, which in turn holds 50% stake in the Luxport Group which operates Luxembourg’s only inland port at Mertert on the River Moselle and is also active at Trier in Germany and Metz in France.
The acquisition completed on January 1 forms part of CFL Group’s plans to diversify its activities with river transport and bulk product logistics, and to strengthen rail, road and water links with major seaports using CFL Intermodal rail services and Luxport’s Lorang road transport subsidiary
‘We remain steadfast in our objective to develop Luxembourg as a European multimodal hub’, said CFL Chief Executive Marc Wengler on January 12.
