FRANCE: Chemical company Arkema has selected Everysens to digitalise the management of its European railway operations which include a fleet of 500 wagons.
The Everysens modular software-as-a-service platform integrates real-time sensor data from leasing companies Ermewa, VTG, Atir-Rail, Millet and Wascosa to provide arrival time updates and details of current and projected availability.
This includes the real-time location of individual wagons, which are complex to track with shippers previously getting partial information for domestic flows and almost no information for international deliveries.
‘We tested several solutions on the market in order to validate the benefits for our customers’, explained Jean-Marc Viallatte, Vice-President of Arkema’s Supply Chain Group. ‘Everysens stood out not only in terms of the proposed solution but also in its ability to understand our needs and support us. After a few weeks of piloting, carried out in the middle of a period of lock-down, we chose to commit ourselves.’
Arkema is now studying the possibility of deploying the platform in North America.
‘What is unique is the scope of the project, which is global, and the desire to harmonise rail activities at a group level to bring it up to the same standard as other transport modes such road and sea’, said Everysens CEO Youness Lemrabet. ‘This is proof that rail has its full place in the sustainable supply chain of industrial companies, playing an important role in their commitment to decarbonisation.’
