GERMANY: To facilitate a shift of freight from barge to rail at a time when water levels in the River Rhein are at their lowest in five years, Lineas is to increase its services and capacity on the corridor over the summer period from June 15.
‘With up to 14 weekly Xpress trains along the Rhein and additional capacity to the Mannheim region, we offer our customers high frequency and flexible capacity access without the need to book entire block trains’, said Chief Commercial Operator Lars Redeligx.
‘We are also in close contact with barge operators to serve the needs of the market. Multimodal solutions can keep goods flowing in Europe, no matter the weather.’
