USA: Missouri Eastern Railroad began operations on March 1, running between Union and Overland where it interchanges with Terminal Railroad of St Louis.
The Jaguar Transport Holdings subsidiary acquired 68 km of track in the west of the St Louis metropolitan area from V&S Railway in January. The following month it acquired leasehold rights to 14 km of adjacent Union Pacific tracks. MER replaces Progressive Rail’s Central Midland Railway as operator of the routes.
‘The railroad’s location in the centre of the country, with access to six Class I railroads, multiple interstate highways and the Mississippi River, offers current and future customers tremendous reach across the United States’, said Jaguar CEO Stu Towner.
Jaguar is backed by the Toronto-based OPSEU Pension Plan Trust Fund. It also operates the Cimarron Valley Railroad, Southwestern Railroad, Washington Eastern Railroad, Oregon Eastern Railroad, Texas Eastern Railroad and West Memphis Base Railroad.
