SPAIN: An agreement for SNCF Logistics to acquire Comsa’s stake in private operator Comsa Rail Transport was signed on July 9. The transaction is subject to Spanish regulatory approval.
Founded five years ago, Comsa Rail Transport now has a turnover of €32m, nearly 200 employees and operated 19 200 trains in 2017. SNCF’s logistics business agreed to take a 25% stake in April 2013. Following the acquisition the business will be renamed Captrain España.
‘This acquisition agreement is part of our strategy to position ourselves in the main European railway freight transport sector’, said Alain Picard, Managing Director of SNCF Logistics. ‘With Captrain España we hope to fully integrate Comsa Rail Transport into our European Captrain network and strengthen our international offer throughout the continent.’
