ESTONIA: Skinest Rail has awarded Russia’s United Wagon Co a contract to supply 23 LPG tank cars for use in the Baltic States from June.
The Type 15-6855 wagons will have 25 tonne axleload Type 18-9855 bogies, a capacity of 86·7 m³, maintenance intervals of 1 million km or eight years and a service life of 40 years.
‘UWC Group is systematically developing its export activities’, said UWC Executive Director Andrey Krivchenkov. ‘The 1520 mm gauge area outside Russia is of interest to us, and we are expanding the deliveries of new generation wagons of various types that have already proven themselves in the domestic market.
‘Co-operation with such a reputable company as Skinest Rail is another step forward in the implementation of our export programme and an opportunity to show other market players the advantages of wagons, particularly LPG tank cars, manufactured at the Tikhvin plant.’
