VTG and Dutch company Intermodal Telematics have launched a joint engineering programme to develop and install continuously operating load-unload sensors across the leasing company’s entire fleet of liquid, bulk and container wagons.

From November 1, UP will merge its Union Pacific Distribution Services, Streamline, ShipCarsNow and Insight Network Logistics businesses into a single wholly owned subsidiary called Loup Logistics Co.
A consortium of Siltor and KZN Rail has begun work on a 40m złoty contract to modernise the Gliwice Port freight yard by the end of November 2018, installing new signalling and lengthening sidings to 800 m. The yard primarily handles the transhipment of coal to river barges, but is also used by trains to PCC Intermodal‘s container terminal.
Tarmac has opened a rail depot at Freightliner's Garston site near Liverpool. It will receive up to 300 000 tonnes of aggregates a year for onward supply to Tarmac customers across Merseyside and Cheshire, which is expected to take around 10 000 lorries off the roads.

The first CN block train has operated to Ray-Mont's grain facility at Prince Rupert in British Columbia, carrying canola meal pellets. The facility includes a 100-wagon rail loop, a grain dumper pit and systems for transferring Canadian and US grain and processed grain products to containers for export.
