In mid-March, TX Logistik launched a weekly 4 000 km triangular service for intermodal traffic connecting Arad Railport at Curtici in Romania with the Quadrante Europa terminal at Verona in Italy, Logport III at Duisburg in Germany and than back to Romania. The services to and from Italy call at the TSSU terminal at Hall/Tyrol in Austria. The service has been designed for two large Romanian forwarding companies and an Italian carrier to address imbalances in the flow of goods which mean there is not always sufficient volumes to run trains for a round trip with appropriate backloads.
European Loc Pool and Stadler Valencia have obtained type approval for Euro9000 electro-diesel locomotives in Germany and Austria.
