RUSSIA: Tikhvin Railway Car Building Plant operator United Wagon Co has signed a deal to gain full intellectual property rights to the Motion Control 18-9836 bogie which Amsted Rail developed for 1 520 mm gauge wagons.
Under the agreement announced on August 22 Amsted Rail will continue its direct licensing relationships with its existing Russian partners, while UWC will be able to issue new production licences to other CIS rolling stock manufacturers. The companies have also agreed to establish a joint venture to design and manufacture 'innovative components' for wagons.
'The agreement that has been signed is a major first step on the road to mass introduction of new technologies related to manufacturing, operating, and servicing of rolling stock with 25 tonnes per axleload on the railway network of Russia and other CIS nations', said Marcus Montenecourt, chief representative of Amsted Rail for Russia & CIS.
