MALAYSIA: The Ministry of Finance’s high speed rail project delivery company MyHSR Corp has appointed CH2M as its technical adviser for the Kuala Lumpur – Singapore line.

The award of the contract follows the signing on July 19 of a memorandum of understanding between the governments of Malaysia and Singapore setting out how the international project is to be managed.

CH2M and its sub-consultant PwC will support MyHSR in the planning and design of the Malaysian section of the route, and will assist with project management.

‘We have a challenging task ahead’, said MyHSR CEO Mohd Nur Ismal Mohamed Kamal. ‘We expect CH2M to bring its global expertise and its experience working on high speed rail projects for the Kuala Lumpur – Singapore high speed line.’

CH2M Programme Director Mark Loader said the engineering services company has been active in Kuala Lumpur since the 1960s, and ‘we understand the challenges associated with delivering this nationally significant programme based on our depth of experience with High Speed 1 and 2 in the UK.’ He said CH2M would ‘bring a partnership approach to MyHSR, combining international rail expertise with our local understanding to provide the leadership and capabilities to ensure the project is delivered successfully.’
