SAUDI ARABIA: ArRiyadh Development Authority has awarded Indra a €266m contract to provide fare collection and access control systems for Riyadh’s future network of six metro lines and 1 000 buses.
Indra beat nine other bids for the contract, which was signed on January 5. It includes a 54-month implementation phase and 10 years of maintenance and support.
Indra will provide the entire pricing management system, including financial management software and operator clearing house. A single contactless card will be valid across all metro and bus services, with other ticketing options including barcode based one-way tickets and NFC mobile phone payment.
Indra said the contract would strengthen its position in the Middle East, where other major infrastructure projects are planned. The company has previously won a €440m contract to provide telecoms, security, ticketing and ICT systems for the Haramain High Speed Line.
