ITALY: Infrastructure manager RFI has awarded a design and build contract for electrification of the 66 km Ivrea – Aosta line.
The work is to be undertaken by a consortium of Impresa Luigi Notari, SIFEL, Costruzioni Linee Ferroviarie and Rete Costruzioni Ferroviarie.
The €79m project is being financed through the National Recovery & Resilience Plan. It includes three substations at Donnas, Chatillon and Aosta, and modernisation of tunnels and other structures. Completion is planned by 2026.
Electrification forms part of a wider modernisation of the Chivasso – Aosta line which is being undertaken by RFI and the regional authority to improve rail connections towards Torino. This includes modernisation of Nus and Hône-Bard stations.
