SERBIA: An agreement to co-operate to modernise the 208 km Valjevo – Vrbnica section of the line from Beograd to Bar in Montenegro was signed by Minister of Construction, Transport & Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlović and Russian Railways Chief Executive Oleg Belozerov on October 19.
Russia and Serbia also signed an €172·5m intergovernmental loan agreement. This will be augmented by €57·5m from the Serbian state budget, and used to finance the construction of an integrated traffic control centre, as well as design work for Valjevo – Vrbnica modernisation and ongoing work by RZD International to build the new Čortanovci tunnel and a viaduct on the Danube floodplain on the Stara Pazova – Novi Sad section of the Beograd – Budapest line.
