CZECH REPUBLIC: Infrastructure manager SŽDC has awarded Eurovia CS, GJW Praha and EŽ Praha a KC1·47bn EU co-funded contract to upgrade the 8·4 km section of double-track line between Lysá nad Labem and Čelákovice, northeast of Praha.
This will include replacing the bridge over the River Labe with a structure which will increase the minimum height above water level from 4·7 m to 5·25 m, with provision for a future increase to 7·0 m.
Completion is planned for November 2021, increasing the line speed to 140 km/h and eliminating a capacity bottleneck on a route where passenger traffic is increasing.
