DENMARK: Fehmarn Belt rail and road tunnel project promoter Femern A/S has appointed SNC-Lavalin Group company Atkins to provide multidisciplinary railway consultancy services for the construction of the 18 km fixed link between Denmark and Germany.
The agreement runs for eight years with potential for extension.
Atkins will support work on the track, electrification, power supply, signalling, train control and telecommunications, and will collaborate with German engineering firm Gauff which is focusing on the German elements of the project.
The immersed tube tunnel is scheduled for completion in 2028.
