CROATIA: The European Commission’s Innovation & Networks Executive Agency has signed an agreement to provide 85% co-financing for HŽ Infrastruktura’s €300m modernisation of the 43·2 km route from Križevci to the Hungarian border.
The work to permit 160 km/h operation will include the modernisation of 10 stations, elimination of all level crossings and replacement of the bridge over the River Drava. A second track will be laid on the route, mostly following the existing line but with 4·3 km on a new alignment between Carevdar and Lepavina.
