CZECH REPUBLIC: The rebuilt entrance hall at Praha Hlavní station was formally opened by the Czech and Italian presidents on April 14.
A KC1·15bn modernisation of the city's main station has been undertaken by Grandi Stazioni, an FS Group company which has leased the commercial and retail spaces for 30 years under a contract signed with CD in 2002.
Around 90% of the commercial space has already been taken up, and most areas had reopened to passengers by last November. The final stage is renovation of the 1901-09 art nouveau building, due for completion in 2013.
Grandi Stazioni is currently modernising Mariánské Lázne station, but a similar project at Karlovy Vary has been abandoned owing to the poor state of the building.
