ESTONIA: Trinational project promoter RB Rail has selected IDOM as the winner of a contract to provide design and supervision services for the Tallinn – Rapla section of the Rail Baltica standard gauge line.
The Spanish company’s bid of €11·4m was judged the most economically advantageous.
The contract covers site investigations, preparation of the master designs for the civil works, value engineering studies and detailed technical design over 24 months, followed by supervision during the construction phase.
The 48 km section of the route will include 32 bridges, including a viaduct carrying the Tallinn – Rapla road over the railway, as well as four culverts for animals.
Procurement has now been launched for seven of the 11 detailed technical design contracts for the Rail Baltica corridor, covering 57% of the length of the future line.
Tenders are to be called next month for the design of two sections of the route within Latvia.
