SERBIA: Work has begun to rehabilitate two sections of the 65 km single-track line from Šabac to Loznica and Brasina on the Bosnian border. This should enable the passenger service which was suspended in 2005 to be reinstated from September 1.

Modernisation of the Petlovača – Lešnica and Loznica – Gornja Koviljača sections of the route totalling 24 km is being undertaken by ZGOP and Bauwesen at cost of 335m dinar. A further 32m dinar is to be spent to renovate the stations at Loznica and Brasina.

  • The government has announced plans to build a traffic control centre at Topčider, south of Beograd, and a rail link to Beograd’s international airport.
