NETHERLANDS: With effect from July 1 Strukton Rail has acquired Netherlands Railways’ NS Spooraansluitingen business, which manages and maintains 130 km of track and 391 turnouts at industrial sites belonging to around 100 companies. As part of the takeover NSS has been rebranded as Strukton Rail Short Line.
NS had decided that connections between the national and industrial rail networks were no longer part of its core business.
Strukton Rail said it would contact the industrial companies involved to ‘formulate a maintenance concept for safe, reliable and available tracks at a price that is in line with market practice’.
Strukton Rail is responsible for the maintenance of more than 2 700 km of track in the Netherlands and 2 400 km in Sweden, and is active in the rail sector worldwide.
