SWEDEN: Transport infrastructure manager Trafikverket has exercised an option to extend Railcare’s contract for snow removal on the rail network for a further three years to April 30 2025.
Under the SKr40m/year agreement Railcare provides a number of machines and personnel that are strategically deployed across Sweden during winter. Snow ploughs are used across the network, while snow melters are used primarily in yards and stations where the snow is swept up and melted in large tanks.
‘Climate change is contributing to significant changes in the weather and it feels reassuring that our snow removal machines will continue to provide the snow removal services at strategically important places in Sweden’s infrastructure for the next three winter seasons’, said Railcare CEO Mattias Remahl on April 22.
