BRAZIL: Federal transport agency ANTT has begun tendering for studies to build a new passenger and freight railway from Brasilia to Anápolis and Goiâna. Interested parties have been invited to submit expressions of interest by October 22.
As well as preliminary technical and economic studies, consultancy work now out to tender includes assessment of the social and environmental impact, demand modelling and integration with the North-South Railway. Work is due to start in February 2013 for completion within 12 months.
The studies are being funded under a R$5⋅5m agreement with the World Bank. Construction of the railway itself is expected to cost R$800m.
