SPAIN: Infrastructure manager ADIF Alta Velocidad has awarded Thales a contract to maintain signalling and traffic management systems on the Lleida – Barcelona Sants – Figueras section of the Madrid – Figueras high speed line.
Thales said the reliability requirements and traffic density on this route, including its use by multiple operators, made it one of the country’s ‘most demanding’ sections of high speed line.
The €26·9m contract runs for 48 months. It means Thales now maintains the signalling and telecoms equipment on seven sections of the Spanish high speed network totalling more than 1 700 route-km.
‘The maintenance services we provide on the different Spanish high speed lines allow ADIF to guarantee the proper commercial operation of these lines, as well as to know the status and correctly maintain all the assets of its installed base, guaranteeing and extending their life cycle’, said Eduardo Mariscal, Director of Transport Customer Services for Thales in Spain, when the contract was announced on January 12.
