USA: Systems integration contractor Parsons Transportation Group has awarded Wabtec Corp a contract to supply Positive Train Control equipment for Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District’s South Shore Line 1·5 kV DC electrified commuter route from Chicago.

Wabtec is to provide its Interoperable Electronic Train Management System and TMDS dispatch and back-office systems including interfaces to the traction power supply under the $30m contract which was announced on April 14, as well as design, training and related services. Completion is planned for 2018. The technology will be fully interoperable with the PTC system being implemented by Metra.
