Australia: Ansaldo STS has won a A$7·3m contract to supply signalling and train control systems for Pacific National's Greta Train Support Facility in the Hunter Valley.
The NSW government has awarded a consortium led by Aecom and including Parsons Brinckerhoff, Grimshaw and Cox Architects a contract to design the 23 km North West Rail Link in Sydney.
China: Hong Kong MTR has awarded Chun Wo Development a HK$1·2bn contract for works on the Express Rail Link, a HK$856m contract to build a station and tunnel for the Kwun Tong extension and a HK$325m contract for works on the South Island Line.
Croatia: HZ Infrastruktura has awarded DB international a €5·4m contract to prepare studies for upgrading the 83 km Dugo Selo - Novska route.
France: Tata Steel's Scunthorpe plant is to supply steel which the Hayange plant will roll into 84 000 tonnes of 108 m rail for the 302 km Tours - Bordeaux high speed line. Switches and crossings will take the total value of the rail supply contract awarded by Cosea to €80m.
Georgia: GR has awarded China Railway 23rd Bureau Group a 2·2bn yuan contract to build 38 km of new line and modernise 18 km of existing line between Khashuri and Zestap'oni over 55 months.
India: Kolkata Metro Rail Corp has awarded Ansaldo STS a €46m contract to design and supply signalling and telecoms for the 14·7 km East-West metro line.
Israel: National Roads Co has awarded a Danya-Cebus/China Civil Engineering Construction Corp joint venture a US$276m contract to construct two tunnel bores totalling 10 km for the 23 km 'Akko - Karmi'el line.
Italy: A consortium of Ansaldo STS, Salini Costruttori and Vianini Lavori has been awarded a €560m concession to design, build and subsequently manage a 3·8 km extension of Roma metro Line B from Rebibbia to Casal Monastero with three stations. Opening is planned for 2016.
Malaysia: As part of the two metro extensions to Putra Heights, MRCB has won a 1·33bn ringgit contract to undertake works for Kuala Lumpur's Ampang Line and Sunway a 569m ringgit contract for the Kelana Jaya Line.
Nigeria: Turkish firm Eser West Africa is to rehabilitate more than 300 km of railway linking Port Harcourt to Makurdi under a 10 month contract.
Singapore: LTA has awarded the final civil works contracts for the 21 km Phase 3 of the Downtown Line. Samsung C&T is to build Upper Changi station for S$257m, Penta-Ocean Construction will construct Bendemeer station for S$215m, KTC Civil Engineering will build Tampines station for S$119m, and GS Engineering will build Tampines East and River Valley stations. Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Co will construct tunnels between Tampines East and Upper Changi for S$91m.
Spain: ADIF has awarded Sacyr a €264m contract for works at Barcelona Sants to accommodate the tunnel for high speed services running under the city centre from La Sagrera. This will include demolishing 50 m of retaining wall and rebuilding the northern ends of four platforms used by high speed services.
UK: Network Rail has awarded a Colas Rail/Morgan Sindall joint venture a £750m framework agreement running to April 2014 for infrastructure works on its Western Route.
USA: New Orleans RTA has selected Parsons Brinckerhoff to provide construction management services for a 2·3 km tram extension along Loyola Avenue to Amtrak's Union Passenger Terminal for completion in June 2012. The contract also covers a 6·4 km loop line around the French Quarter and the 2·9 km Convention Center loop from the Riverfront Line.
Exposition Corridor Construction Authority has awarded a Skanska/Rados JV a $542m contract to design and build the 10·5 km Culver City - Santa Monica Phase 2 of the $1·5bn Expo Corridor light rail project in Los Angeles. Parsons Brinckerhoff will provide design services.
Parsons Brinckerhoff is to expand TriMet's Ruby Junction depot to accommodate 18 light rail vehicles to be purchased for the 12 km Portland - Milwaukie extension scheduled for opening in September 2015.
