Australia: RailCorp has awarded MerMec a €15m contract to supply two 130 km/h Roger 800 self-propelled diagnostic vehicles by the end of the year, with an option for a third.

Queensland Rail has awarded TrackStar Alliance a US$15m contract for work on the US$488m 10 km Richlands – Springfield extension. Aecom will provide design services.

China: An Alstom/Casco joint venture has won two contracts totalling €85m to supply Urbalis CBTC signalling for Shanghai metro Line 16 and Kunming lines 1 and 2.

Czech Republic: SZDC has awarded Skanska, SSZ and Subterra a KC24m contract for modernisation of the Zbiroh – Rokycany route.

Eurovia CS has begun a KC740m upgrade of 2·6 km of line in Ceské Budejovice; double-tracking, resignalling and elimination of two level crossings will raise speeds to 120 km/h.

Skanska has won a KC3·7bn contract to supply power, air-conditioning and communications for the 6 km four-station Dejvická – Motol extension of Praha metro Line A (RG 2.10 p13).

Estonia: EVR Infra has awarded Elektrizace Zeleznic Praha an €18·4m design contract for modernisation of the Vasalemma – Tallinn, Keila – Paldiski and Klooga – Klooga-Ranna lines.

Finland: Transport agency Liikennevirasto has awarded Thales Transportation Systems a €7·9m contract to supply signalling and safety equipment for the Helsinki Ring project.

Strabag subsidiary Oden has won a €27m contract to build Matinkylä station and 1·8 km of connecting tunnels for Helsinki’s Westmetro project.

France: The Cité Tram consortium of SET and Transamo has awarded Alstom a €2m contract for signalling on the Tours tram Line 1 project.

RFF has awarded Systra a €48m contract for environmental and technical studies prior to seeking construction powers for the proposed Marseille – Nice high speed line, including restructuring existing lines in Marseille.

Morocco: ONCF has commissioned an electrification control centre supplied by Eliop Seinalia under a turnkey contract which includes modernisation of 55 substations.

Netherlands: ProRail has awarded BAM Rail an €18·7m contract to build the new Groningen-Europapark station.

New Zealand: Fletcher Concrete & Infrastructure is to open a concrete sleeper plant at Te Rapa by April 2012, after signing a contract to supply KiwiRail with up to 180000 sleepers a year over the next decade.

Poland: Rewal council has awarded the Lider Husar consortium a 40m złoty EU-supported contract to modernise 10 km of the metre-gauge Gryfice Railway to encourage tourism.

Romania: Bucuresti metro operator Metrorex has awarded Invensys Rail Dimetronic a contract to supply signalling at Pajura and Parc Bazilescu for the extension of Line 4.

Saudi Arabia: AlFanar Construction has awarded ABB a US$85m order to supply 380 kV indoor gas-insulated switchgear for substations on the Haramain high speed rail project.

Singapore: Balfour Beatty Rail and Gammon Construction have won a £27m contract to carry out civil and track works at the Ulu Pandan and Bishan metro depots.

Spain: ADIF has awarded Dimetronic an €11m contract to modify signalling at Ourense, O Irixo and Santiago de Compostela to interface with the high speed line between Ourense and Santiago expected to open on December 10. This includes a new electronic interlocking at O Irixo and EMC protection of existing equipment.

Thales has won an €11m contract to upgrade signalling and telecoms on La Cartuja branch which is to become part of the Sevilla suburban network (RG 4.11 p16).

ADIF has awarded Control y Montajes Industriales a €95m contract to renew electrification on the 336 km Reinosa – Bárcena section of the single-track Palencia – Santander route. Electrén has a €74m contract covering the 288 km Torrelavega – Santander section.

Thailand: Ch Karnchang submitted the lowest bid for civil works on the 12·6 km Bearing – Samut Prakan Bangkok Skytrain extension.

Turkey: TCDD has selected Eliop Otomatik Sistemleri for signalling and telecoms renewal at Pehlivanköy.

UK: Network Rail has awarded Invensys Rail the £20m Salisbury – Exeter Signalling Recontrol contract, covering replacement of life-expired equipment on the 145 km route with three Solid State Interlockings.

NR has awarded Signalling Solutions a €6m contract to supply four Smartlock interlockings to replace 13 SSI interlockings controlling the 20 km from London Paddington to West Drayton, including the Heathrow branch.
