Germany: Rail.One is to supply GWS 05-300W turnout bearers for the Erfurt – Leipzig high speed line.
DB has awarded Alpine, Hochtief and Wayss & Freytag a €290m contract to build the Bad Cannstatt tunnel for the Stuttgart 21 project by 2018.
Ghana: WEGH is supplying level crossing barriers and lights to modernise the Accra – Tema line.
Greece: Attiko Metro has awarded Siemens a €41m contract to provide signalling and train control systems for extensions to Athens lines 2 and 3.
India: Northeast Frontier Railway has awarded a HCC/Coastal Projects JV a Rs1·6bn contract to build a 3·3 km tunnel for the Jiribam – Tupul broad gauge line; HCC has two other tunnelling contracts for the line.
Norway: A Hochtief Solutions/Veidekke Entreprenør JV is to renew 6·8 km of railway and build a tunnel for the €210m E6 Dovrebanen road and rail upgrade.
Poland: PKP PLK has awarded KZA and Bombardier a 147m złoty contract to equip the Pozna – Czpi line with new signalling and telecoms.
Romania: A FCC Construcción/ Alpine Bau/SC AZVI consortium has won a €208m contract to modernise the 23 km Sighioara – Ael route.
CFR SA has awarded an Alstom/Swietelsky/Astaldi/Euroconstruct Trading 98/Dafora consortium a €300m contract to upgrade the 41 km line from Hungary to Curtici and Arad by June 2014. The project includes ETCS Level 2 and track and electrification renewals to raise speeds to 160 km/h.

Spain: Invensys Rail Dimetronic has commissioned the first Westrace 2.0 interlockings in Spain at Lasarte and Añorga on EuskoTren’s Bilbao – San Sebastián route.
ADIF has awarded Travipos and Prefabricados Delta a €10m contract to supply concrete sleepers for the Almansa – Caudete section of the Albacete – Alacant high speed line. ArcelorMittal is to supply 8300 tonnes of rail for €8·4m, while Pórfidos Internacionales and Pórfidos del Mediterráneo are to supply ballast for €7·7m.
ADIF has awarded Ferrovial Agromán and Compañía de Obras Castillejos a €10m civil works contract for a 7·6 km single-track formation between Padornelo and Lubián on the Madrid – Ourense high speed line (p11), including a 6·4 km tunnel. The other track will use the existing bore.
Turkey: Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality has signed the €564m contract for DOU Inaat ve Ticareta to undertake civil and electromechanical works for the 17·5 km Üsküdar – Ümraniye – Çekmeköy metro M6.

UK: Network Rail has awarded ETCS development framework agreements to Ansaldo STS, Infrasig, Invensys Rail and Signalling Solutions.
USA: Septa has awarded Ansaldo STS a $98m PTC supply contract.
Harsco announced rail grinder orders totalling $20m in April. One is going to the UK, South Korea’s Sampyo Engineering & Construction has ordered a machine for high speed lines, and China’s Ningbo Rail Transit has followed orders for 10 and 20-stone grinders with a 30-stone unit.
