Argentina: Trenes Argentinos Infraestructura has awarded a joint venture of UCSA, Spavias Engenharia and Construcciones Performar of a contract to undertake track renewals on 416 km of the metre-gauge Belgrano network.

China: China Railway Construction Electrification Bureau Group and China Railway 21st Bureau Group have won the 3·4bn yuan Jsjjsd-1 contract to provide E&M system integration and safety monitoring and information systems for the Beijing – Hebei section of the Beijing – Shenyang PDL.

Czech Republic: Following a protracted tendering process, SŽDC has awarded Cedop and Egis Rail to draw up a KC6·75m contract to prepare a new feasibility study for the proposed Praha – Dresden high speed line.

Eurovia CS, Subterra, GJW Praha and OHL ŽS are to modernise the 5·7 km 3 kV DC double-track section between Beroun and Králv Dvr for KC2·2bn.

A KC2·5bn modernisation of the Olomouc junction has been compelted by OHL ŽS and Alpine Bau CZ. Track and electrification were upgraded and new signalling installed to increase capacity and the maximum speed to 160 km/h.

Europe: Femern A/S signed two technical consultancy contracts for the Fehmarn Belt tunnel on March 21. A framework for client technical consultancy services was awarded to a Rambøll-Arup-TEC JV, with Schønherr and WTM Engineers as sub-consultants. A framework for the provision of in-house technical consultancy services was signed with ÅF-Hansen & Henneberg, with Atkins Danmark, Obermeyer Planen + Beraten and ÅF Infrastructure as sub-consultants.

Iran: On March 28 RAI and RZD International signed a €1·2bn contract for 25 kV 50 Hz electrification of the 495 km route from Garmsar to Incheh Borun on the Turkmen border, building on an initial agreement signed in 2015. The four-year project will start once the governments have finalised a €1bn Russian export loan. An MoU has also been signed to use the project as a basis for co-operation elsewhere.

Malaysia: MyHSR has awarded contracts for reference design consultancy services on the Kuala Lumpur – Singapore high speed project to Systra, Jacobs, Ranhill Consulting, HSS Integrated and Aecom Perunding.

Poland: Intercor and Mosty ód have won a 285m złoty contract to modernise suburban tracks as part of a programme to provide a 40% increase in capacity on the 23 km Warszawa Wochy – Grodzisk Mazowiecki route. A 12-month closure starts in September.

PKP PLK has awarded Intercor a 111m złoty contract for modernisation of the 2116 m Gorzów Wielkopolski station viaduct and construction of Gorzów Wielkopolski Wschód halt.

A consortium of Gülermak and Mosty ód was the lowest bidder for the ód cross-city tunnel construction project at 1·36bn złoty.

AŽD Praha is to install ETCS Level 2 on the Kraków – Rzeszów line for 77m złoty.

PKP Energetyka is to electrify the 27 km line from Wgliniec to Zgorzelec on the German border for 41m złoty.

UK: Stadler has awarded BAM Nuttall a contract worth £20m to build the depot in Kirkdale where it will maintain the fleet of 52 EMUs it is to supply for Merseyrail, and to refurbish the existing Birkenhead North depot.

USA: New York MTA has approved the award of a $492m contract to a joint venture of Judlau Contracting and TC Electric to accelerate by three months the rehabilitation of the Canarsie Tunnel on the L Subway line.

The Federal Railroad Administration has awarded Ensco a contract to operate and maintain six FRA track inspection cars for five years.

Uruguay: CFU has taken delivery of a Geismar KGT4RS road-rail crane with nine attachments for different track maintenance functions.
