Argentina: Sbase has awarded Siemens a €30m contract to upgrade the 5 km Buenos Aires metro Line C with Trainguard MT train control and Controlguide Vicos operations control systems, Airlink radios, Sicas interlockings, and passenger information systems.

Azerbaijan: Bouygues Travaux Publics is to build a tunnel at the Baku metro's 28 May station to separate the Red and Green lines from 2016.

Brazil: Vale Logística Integrada has taken delivery of a rail grinder ordered from a US supplier at a cost of R$28m.

Canada: London Trackwork is to supply special trackwork including turnouts for the Confederation Line light rail project in Ottawa.

China: China Railway Signal & Communication Corp has awarded Siemens a €28m contract to supply Trainguard MT radio-based train control for the 39 km Xi'an metro Line 3.

France: Société du Grand Paris has awarded further contracts for the Grand Paris Express project. An Egis-led consortium including Tractebel Engineering France and architectural firms is to undertake design and civil engineering on a 22 km section of Line 16 between Noisy-Champs and Le Bourget RER under a €67·5m contract. A second Egis-led consortium will work on a 7·5 km section of Line 17 between Le Bourget RER and Saint-Denis Pleyel under a €25m contract.

Siemens has been awarded a €45m contract to provide Trainguard CBTC for a a 5·8 km, four station extension of Paris metro Line 14 to Mairie de Saint-Ouen.

Germany: Gauff Rail Engineering is to provide DB ProjektBau with design and tender documentation services for the remodelling of Berlin-Rummelsburg yard to support the introduction of ICx trainsets.

Malaysia: MMC-Gamuda has awarded YFG Engineering a 36·7m ringgit subcontract for underground E&M works for Stadium Merdeka station on the Klang Valley MRT line.

Mexico: Siemens has won a €25m contract to supply CTS/M ATP, two Sicas interlockings, its Vicos operations control system and RailCom Manager communications for the 7·5 km Monterrey light metro Line 3. Commissioning is scheduled for late 2015.

Netherlands: HIMA Benelux has signed a 10-year agreement to supply VRS Railway Industry with SIL4 rated controllers for level crossings.

Norway: Torpol Norge has won a NKr158m contract to replace tram track and catenary on Tollbrugata and Prinsens Gate in Oslo by June 2017.

Poland: A consortium led by NDI has been selected to build a 1·6 km rail link to Szymany Airport for 68m złoty.

Qatar: Qatar Rail has appointed UNStudio as principal architect for the 35 stations on Doha metro phase one.

Russia: Alstom is laying a trial section of ballastless track at the Shcherbinka test centre.

Saudi Arabia: ArRiyadh Development Authority has appointed Lloyd's Register as safety assessor for the Riyadh metro. Saudi Electricity Co has contracts worth 2·56bn riyals to provide high voltage power supply infrastructure.

Riyadh metro lines 1 and 2 construction consortium BACS has awarded Advanced Construction Technology Services a contract for geotechnical and geophysical works.

Switzerland: SBB has awarded Prysmian Group a €26m five-year framework agreement for the supply of 2800 km of signalling cables. Nexans has a €35m five-year framework for the supply of more than 7000km of signalling and balise power cables.

UK: Parsons Brinckerhoff has been appointed to provide asset information management services to support the HS2 project. Separately, it has won an £8m design contract for the Bedford - Oxford/Aylesbury reopening scheme.

USA: A joint venture of Parsons and Acumen is to provide general engineering services to San Francisco's BART for the next five years.

San Francisco Muni has awarded Thales a $24·7m contract to supply SelTrac CBTC for the 2·7 km Central Subway extension of the T Third Line.

Amtrak has awarded Siemens a 'mid double-digit million dollar' contract to supply two 30 MW converter units and a Sitras SFC multilevel traction converter to enhance power supplies at Metuchen on the Northeast Corridor.
