VOESTALPINE SCHIENEN: Under the slogan ‘good is good, but better carries it’, Voestalpine Schienen will showcase the latest developments in the world of rail steels.
Its heat-treated grade 400 UHC HSH hypereutectoid steel combines hardness with a resistance to rolling contact fatigue and corrugation. Voestalpine says the steel can double operational availability and halve maintenance costs when used on mixed-traffic lines.
The new HSH GM-CL heat treated grooved rail with reduced carbon content makes in-track deposit welding without any pre-heating as simple as for standard grades, the company says, while its hardness corresponds with that of conventional premium grooved rails.
Voestalpine Schienen will also highlight the latest developments in welding technology.
