WABTEC: The multinational component specialist Wabtec has three core areas of focus at this year’s InnoTrans. These are: improving the passenger experience; comprehensive product life-cycle support; and ‘greener solutions’.
Among the products on display in Berlin will be a sliding door system which includes an illuminated front seal and anti-drag technology for safer and more efficient passenger flow. Wabtec will also showcase a full-height platform screen door that enables free-standing modular installation.
Also featured will be sanitary cabin components, smart displays and technology for real-time information and infotainment aimed at both passengers and operators.
Brakes will also feature prominently, including MetroFlex, a novel integrated brake control system for urban rail applications, and MBC, a new modular brake control for main line rolling stock.
A wheel-mounted disc and brake station assembly will be on show, as will Wabtec’s FreightFlexx, which the company claims will offer both the longest life and lightest axle-mounted disc for freight applications in the market.
The company will also demonstrate WabtecOne, the monitoring and analytics platform that harnesses ‘big data’. WabtecOne transforms disparate data streams into actionable intelligence ‘that provides operators with new opportunities to overcome their toughest operational challenges’, the company says.
From a sustainability perspective, Wabtec will also show a range of eco-friendly, refrigerant-based HVAC units, plus its FreshAir and RegenAir products that can reduce energy consumption by as much as 30%.
