AUSTRIA: The second phase of the Linz StadtRegio-Tram project opened on September 10, with the start of revenue operations from Trauner Kreuzung to Schloss Traun.
The first 2·7 km section from Doblerholz to Trauner Kreuzung opened on February 25 and the latest extension has added a further 1·8 km. Services to Schloss Traun are operated as Route 4, with Route 3 still terminating at Trauner Kreuzung. Route 4 runs every 15 min.
The 900 mm gauge line is double-track apart from 400 m through the main square in Traun. The second phase cost €30m to build, bringing the cost of both sections to €75m. A further extension from Schloss Traun to Ansfelden is proposed.
