CHILE: Metro de Santiago has awarded a US$144m firm order for CAF to supply a further 12 nine-car trainsets in 2012-13 for use on lines 1, 2 and 5. The rubber-tyred trains will be equipped for CBTC and unlike previous vehicles for Santiago will feature air-conditioning.
The contract announced on July 21 is an option on a 2007 order for 20 nine-car trains which are in use on Line 1.
