ALGERIA: CAF is to supply 12 six-car trainsets to the Alger metro, the supplier announced on July 27. The trains will be used to augment the existing fleet of 14 CAF trainsets to support the planned opening of metro extensions.
Based on the Inneo metro train family, the trainsets are a development of the design that CAF has supplied to Roma and București.
Alger’s only metro line opened in 2011. Following extensions, it is currently 13·5 km long and serves 13 stations, carrying 16 million passengers per year.
