AUTOMATIC ticket checking equipment is shortly to be installed at stations on Norway’s Gardermobanen route to Oslo airport, due to open in October. Supplied by Dassault Automatismes et Telecommunications in partnership with ICL, the equipment is similar to that previously installed at Eurostar stations with a magnetic stripe reader for ATB2 airline format tickets. This allows travel agencies to issue rail tickets in air ticket format.
The ticket checking gates will incorporate modules to handle contactless smart cards which will initially be used by airline personnel. They will later be issued to frequent travellers holding subscription cards.
Both the magnetic reader and contactless card equipment will capture data for commercial use. o
