SINGAPORE: A Centre for Transport Excellence in the Asia Pacific region has been established as a joint initiative between Singapore’s Land Transport Authority and UITP.
Intended to provide a resource for planners and administrators from other cities in the region, the centre is intended as ‘an all-encompassing’ resource focused on public transport and sustainable development. It will also provide specialist training and support to transport operators.
Describing Singapore as a ‘natural choice’ to host the facility, UITP Secretary-General Alain Flausch said that LTA had ‘convincingly demonstrated to the international community that the application of UITP’s PTx2 strategic objectives is feasible’.
